Ministry Update 5.4.25

Another week has gone by in America and Zambia.

In Zambia, brother Nguni has been to Solwezi and back, had some terrific interaction with the leaders of our partner churches there, and spent some quality time with Josh, who is now OFFICIALLY our coordinator for efforts in Solwezi and neighboring areas. Very successful trip.

I had a call with our amazing agronomist, Tracy, Wednesday, and learned he is sending a colleague from Iowa over THIS WEEK to oversee and instruct around the harvest process in Petauke. Some of our team will eagerly soak in whatever this expert has to offer, while others will continue east to Mambwe, where we continue to see pictures of maize that has already been harvested.

Here in Iowa, we collected another $18,000 towards the harvest effort, bringing us to $118,000. And, once again, we are hearing about other amounts that are in the works. With that in mind, I wired a little more than $40,000 with our May wire this week to get the acquisition work under way this month.

Last week I used a nice round $50 figure for the amount it will take to provide ONE 12kg bag of maize to ONE family for the next year. Using that figure, we grew our feeding capacity last week by 360 families. Those type of calculations really get me excited!!
